Former MDC (Ncube) MP for Insiza, Siyabonga Malandu Ncube, who defected to the Tsvangirai MDC last month, has died. Sources close to Ncube claim that he died of kidney failure.
In August 2011, Malandu Ncube was slapped with a US$1.5 million civil suit by his former journalist girlfriend Simiso Mlevu who accused him of knowingly infecting her with HIV.
Mlevu, a journalist working with the state-owned B-Metro tabloid in Bulawayo, sought $1 million damages for the reduction of her life expectancy and $500,000 for future medical tests and treatments.
Mlevu also wanted $50,000 for the embarrassment she says she suffered when Malandu allegedly sent her abusive messages.
In November last year Malandu Ncube quit the Ncube MDC in protest over the imposition of Priscilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga as the party’s Matabeleland South women’s assembly representative.
Malandu Ncube later joined the Tsvangirai MDC last month and was paraded at a rally held in Bulawayo along with former Mangwe MP Edward Mkhosi.
