Hundreds evacuated from flood hit Bulawayo suburbs

The Bulawayo Fire Brigade has reportedly evacuated more than 100 families from seven flood hit medium and low density suburbs in the city. 

The flooding, caused by two weeks of heavy torrential rains, was so severe that many homes have been deemed unsafe by the fire brigade.

Some of the affected suburbs include Manningdale, Riverside, Matshamhlophe, Lockview, Parklands, Killarney and Mahatshula. Residents have had to watch as their land and homes get submerged underwater since the heavy rains started.

The flooding, caused by two weeks of heavy torrential rains, was so severe that many homes have been deemed unsafe by the fire brigade. Homeowners were being advised to leave their homes and take with them retrievable property.

Crops that include potatoes and maize were also destroyed.
