Taxi drivers protest killing of fellow cabman
HARARE – Taxi drivers in the capital on Wednesday staged a demonstration at Town House over the killing of a fellow cabman, allegedly by municipal police officers.
Around 3:30pm hordes of taxi drivers drove through with a coffin containing the remains of Goliath Dick hanging on the taxi he used to drive.
Dick was allegedly strangled to death by a Harare municipal police officer after he refused to pay a bribe for parking at undesignated parking bay.
According to a citizen reporter on the scene the angry protestors cruised around the central business district, blocked roads while revving their cars.
Dick was buried in Banket today.
