BULAWAYO – A prominent Bulawayo prophet is facing a public backlash after incorrectly predicting that the Zimbabwe national football team would beat Libya and proceed to the final of the African Nations Championships (Chan).

On the eve of the match Prophet Blessing Chiza, leader of the Bulawayo-based Faith in God (FIG) Eagle Life Assembly said Zimbabwe would beat Libya 3-0.

“I strongly sense in the spirit that the Warriors of Zimbabwe will beat Libya with three goals. I also see that Libya might not score any goals. I see Zimbabwe proceed to the Chan final. If the Warriors believe, all things are possible,” Chiza said at the time.

Zimbabwe went on to lose 4-5 on penalties to Libya.

It all started well for the prophet who correctly predicted Zimbabwe would beat Mali 2-1 in the quarterfinals. The prophet however came unstuck in predicting the semi-final result between the two underdogs at the tournament.

“It’s very painful, but I still give glory to God for taking the Warriors that far. I admit that I didn’t see well but I have always said that my prophecies are not 100 percent accurate because I am not God,” he said.

Chiza claimed before the match he saw in his dreams that the warriors were crying but he did not want to discourage them with the bad news.
