CHIPINGE – Police are appealing for information that will lead to the arrest of a 23-year old man from Rugare village under Chief Garahwa in Chipinge, Karukai Matsvase, for murdering his two daughters, Delight Matsvase (3) and Agnes Matsvase (four months) before attacking her wife Beauty Chauke (22).
The incident occurred on Wednesday at around 1am.
Police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba confirmed the incident saying the accused was sleeping in the bedroom with his family when he suddenly woke up in the middle of the night and took a machete which he used to commit the crime.
Matsvase first struck Delight on the head and she died on the spot. He then struck Agnes on the head before attacking his wife thrice who sustained deep cuts on the on her left arm, head and back.
The accused was then disturbed by his elder brother Watson Matsvase who forced the door open and tried to apprehend him but he escaped. The bodies of the deceased are at St Peters Hospital awaiting post mortem while Chauke is also admitted at the same hospital and is in a serious condition.
