One of the largest supermarkets in Masvingo closes down

MASVINGO – Tsungai Supermarket, one of the largest supermarkets in Masvingo owned by senior Zanu PF official, Edmund Mhere has closed down.

Mhere confirmed the closure saying he was pursuing other interests. But sources said Tsungai was pushed out of business by OK and Pick n Pay. Mhere disputes this pointing out that it was just the right time to try other things.

Workers at the chain store have since received their terminal benefits and left. The supermarket was effectively closed from December 31 2013.

Mhere also confirmed that the building was now open for those that want to rent. It has been confirmed that prominent Zvishavane businessman trading under the name Pote was interested in the building.

Some workers said goods removed from the shop were being taken to one of Mhere’s businesses at Murambinda in Buhera. Masvingo Mirror
