On Thursday several residents in Hatcliffe reported seeing Zvandasara at the shopping centre in the same suburb that he illegally sold residential stands to over 1000 home seekers.

Last year in November regional magistrate, Themba Kuwanda slapped Zvandasara and his co-accused, Tichaona Siruware with a 4-year prison term each. He however suspended 2 years on condition that they do not commit a similar offence within the next five years.

The land that Zvandasara sold belonged to Mutare South legislator, Nyasha Chikwinya and land developer, Jonathan Gapare.

Zvandasara’s lawyers, Tapson Dzvetero and Associates notified the court last year of their intention to file an appeal at the High Court against both conviction and sentence. It’s not clear yet when Zvandasara was freed. He appears to enjoy a lot of immunity given that he was never arrested for the brutal murder of the wife of an opposition member in 2008.

On the 16th of June 2008, a ZANU PF mob from Hatcliffe that included Zvandasara, a lady called Judy, another man called Zulu and several other militants were involved in the brutal murder of Abigail Chiroto, the wife of Emmanuel Chiroto, the then MDC-T deputy Mayor of Harare.

The mob descended on the Chiroto house in Hatcliffe on the outskirts of Harare. On seeing Chiroto was not there they destroyed the house using a petrol bomb. The mob then abducted his 26 year old wife Abigail and their four-year-old son Ashley.

Fortunately for Ashley the mob decided to dump him outside a police station but his mother was not as lucky as they took her to a nearby farm. Two days later on the 18th June Abigail was found brutally murdered. She was discovered with a gunshot wound to the head and a deep cut on her stomach. A post-mortem report showed she had been savagely assaulted and her limbs broken.
