Jowani Masowe is a banned religion under Mugabe regime

By Wilfred Kushure

We monitor developments in Mozambique with very keen interest. We were told that if and when the war during Mugabe’s time comes, ichatevera gwara serenzou. Meaning that war will start and develop from where the last one started.

Last year Robert Mugabe hijacked the Johane Marange Apostolic Church gathering at its Holy Shrine in Marange. The event is an annual pilgrimage held every July but Mugabe and his wife tried to use it to canvas for votes.
Last year Robert Mugabe hijacked the Johane Marange Apostolic Church gathering at its Holy Shrine in Marange. The event is an annual pilgrimage held every July but Mugabe and his wife tried to use it to canvas for votes.

Everybody will remember and agree that the last Chimurenga started in Mozambique after developments in Zambia failed to nurture a desired maturity to the aspirations of our past revolutionary fathers, sisters, mothers and brothers.

If the war as prophesied by Jowani Masowe starts from anywhere else other than Mozambique it will not be the war as promised us. We will still wait for the one Guyorutsetsa whose purpose our God owns and desires.

We know we are going there without fail, and maybe at that turn our religion will once again be noticed and once again be given its due respect especially in the governance issues of our precious Zimbabwe.

We do not go nor send our children to western education that denigrates our religion and the values of our culture. We do not go or send our children for western medicines whose content is suspiciously satanic.

We can marry our children at convenient stages where they show us and we collectively agree to their readiness to handle marriage institutions as defined by baba Jowani. Friday is the day of worship ever since the days of our great grand parents and we must rest.

But all this among many other practices in our religion is banned in our free Zimbabwe. Our  African religion is outlawed in our own country.

Many of us have dared practise our religion in its strict provisions and those equally many are wallowing behind bars and still many more are on their way there, to modern prisons of curse and social condemnation.

They are condemned for practicing what they were taught, which they believe but which they are not allowed to practise. Our Religion, Jowani Masowe.

We marry our daughters for free at ages of ours and their choices. Our government is baba Jowani. We belong to no other and we do not serve any other.

Wallowing in dirty prisons for practicing baba Jowani has become a choice and such a sacrifice for believing what you want and daring to practice what our God commanded is the way to Heaven. But for this Mugabe regime…

We are of the Jowani government and we do not identify with the present oppression. Why baba Jowani warned us against welcoming government workers into our church.

‘Musanamate navo nekuti vatengesi…’ The same are the executors of the colonial laws which are still part of our government today, 34 years after independence. The same are the police officers who will report us and come and arrest us.

The same are the prison officers who will securely guard the prisons to make sure we serve the prison terms in full without fail. For practicing our religion? Nhai baba Jowani?

I am referring to and I speak for Jowani Masowe as propounded by baba Jowani paNyamweda. I do not speak for the Jowani Masowe who are government workers.  I do not speak for pseudo Jowanis. Those who are busy amending and repealing Baba Jowani laws in their private and or public efforts at various congregations or in offices.

I do not speak of the modern breed of Jowani Masowe zealots who are also Mugabe brigade and worshipers and puppets. Those who think Mugabe is a messiah, a Moses or a God given. Those are not the Jowani Masowe I am speaking about and or for.

Those ones are pretenders, they are not of Jowani. I also do not speak of the cowards, zvakanzi nababa kutya, chinyarira, chikama, kuroorerana, nechishamwari imhondoro shanu dzauraya Izwi.

I speak for the brave few who still remain in our midst. The same brave few true sons of baba Jowani with the blood of the lamb still flowing free in their veins, rinoerera mutsinga dzakaereswa. Those who will never sell out the blood of the lamb for an ounce of the chiadzwa precious treasures.

I speak for the brave remaining few Jowani Masowe people who still choose to belong to no other but God. Those ones who choose Godly rule above earthly dictates, against all odds as propounded by baba Jowani paNevanji.

We follow the teachings of baba Jowani. We are Apostles of the teachings of the Spirit of Jowani akadzika paNevanji.

Baba Jowani who taught us that he is the forerunner to the Second Coming. He told us to prepare the way for The Son of Man. He told us nguva yaswedera, mukosi wakasunga denga nepasi kuti zvisangane watiningika sechiuno shezingizi.

And he gave us that prophecy about South Africa getting a Black President and that, that will be the last sure sign of the coming of Him, The Prince of Peace!

Let it occur to everyone dear reader that therefore I am speaking of and for very, very few people of Jowani Masowe. The majority of the Apostles who populate our open fields on Fridays and Sundays both local and abroad do not fit in well in the above strict definition of the Jowani Masowe I allude to.

The majority same are part of the failed crop who have in many ways assisted a gradual derailment of our sacredness and sacred beliefs. The same were prophesied to be nyama yemagora, when the war comes. Traitors!

Baba Jowani wepamavambe. Not the one who was varied and extended, reduced  doubted, and not the one akazonokundwa nevaimutevera. I am speaking of Nevanji and kumavambe eHossana!

I speak of the Great Hero Jowani, the Great Warrior baba Jowani. The Prisoner of war of revolution, the former detainee, the pioneer free Spirit of our revolution. Baba Jowani. That one as perfect as He was.

Not the cowering treasonous puppets of the Mugabe regime who chance our congregations for healings and showing off of their new materials and / or new girls and boyfriends.

If government laws were in harmony with God’s laws baba Jowani would not have come. If Jowani was in harmony with government He would not have been persecuted and prosecuted and would not have told us not to worship with government workers who are our  fathers/ mothers, wives/ husbands, sisters / brothers  innocent civil servants of today. Baba Jowani vakaramba.

He commanded Musaende, musaendese vana kuzvikoro kana kuzvipatara zvavo. The same institutions among us today. The same which have developed and sophisticated in both technology and organization. Vakati tisiyane nazvo.

His was a commandment seeking no question and seeking no further qualification and justification. Following a religion or being a member thereof means understanding, believing and practicing it. Following means doing as commanded with no compromise.

A commandment qualifies itself and is untouchable. You cannot question or seek to qualify why and when and how. A commandment has to be observed and practiced as is. Period!

Freedom of religion means I am or must be free to believe and or not believe, practise or not practise the beliefs of my choice.

If I decide to believe it means an inner conviction that that thing is right and the right thing for everyone more so my family. I follow this up by practicing because in my short life I want to do what is right for me in full especially for my God!

Otherwise if I believe and not allowed to practise then I am oppressed. I am not free. I am denied freedom of my religion.

Jowani knew there was a government. He knew there are government laws and rules and many of which were against His teachings. That did not deter Him. He fiercely resisted government oppression even despite several arrests and torture. He told them munezvenyu hamuna zvangu, mune zvangu hamuna zvenyu.

Jowani formed a parallel authority outside the formalised government. The two laws never agreed till to this day despite a complete change of government colour or race.

We were taught defiance to this colonial structured government which does not recognize African religions. He taught humble rebellion, defiance and resistance against a government that does not recognize Godly beliefs and the practice thereof.

We see the current Mugabe regime in the same image as a perpetuation of Smith and his laws and rules with regards our religion.  The same Smith regimes of the colonial error which persecuted vapositori and outlawed the practice of their religion.

If a religion is practiced under a government it means the two are in harmony. If a religion has laws which a present government is at war with it means the two are not in harmony.

If a religion and a government are having contradicting laws it means there is disharmony. In a state of such disharmony religion suffers especially here in Africa where our current crop of leaders are Western schooled and secret followers of autocratic teachings of Hitler, Mussolini etc.

Because the government carries the mandate to rule and a religion is part of the wider society of the ruled, minority religions are in perpetual fear and inherent loss of freedom.

Where a religion is allowed to believe and preach its beliefs. But where that religion is not allowed to practise its beliefs and teachings, that religion is unfortunately Banned!

Baba Jowani started his ministry in 1931. In his fight against white rule and religious oppression baba Jowani was fighting for freedom for all Blacks and the practice of their religion., ‘kuti vanhu vanamate zvakasununguka chinamato chevanhu vatema…’

Mugabe was only born in 1924. He was 7 years when baba Jowani was already fully engaged with fighting oppression and against colonial minority rule and for FREEDOM.

Mugabe was still that young when Jowani was in and out of prison for reasons of peaching freedom to us black people. Mugabe was still much younger when Jowani prayed for and blessed the war of liberation.

The same Mugabe was still combing the region and universities  learning the Roman Dutch Law when Jowani was already on prison sentences with hard labour. The same Roman Dutch Law which then Mugabe so mastered and is now religiously applying against our Church. The same laws that incarcerated and persecuted baba Jowani is now Mugabe’s bible.

Mugabe carries the mandate from the people. Jowani carries the mandate from God. Sadly some of the majority that gave Mugabe the mandate are ‘Vapositori’? What treason, what treachery!

Many times the majority is wrong. Remember when Jesus was crucified and the majority demanded the release of Barnabas. But Jesus is and will ever be The One, The Righteous One despite the majority!

We owe it to God to believe and practice our religion. We practice it trusting that Mugabe at least notices that he does not own the liberation legacy and that he realizes that Nyika ino ndeye Mweya!

We practice and we want to continue practicing our religion in peace hoping that Mugabe will at least realize that we know that he outlaws us and that he learns to reform and give us freedom.

We are fully aware that many of our membership have been imprisoned by the Mugabe regime for practicing our religion. Mugabe the self proclaimed liberator who has tormented our church since the day of his first inauguration 34 years ago. The self glorifying revolutionary, the self-esteemed ‘freedom’ fighter. What freedom?

We contest and condemn this betrayal. We contest this through the Highest Court at the most high Throne whereupon sits the Prince of Peace, our Lord Jesus Christ.

Our government has turned out to be a hidden underhand of the evil one to destroy our church. It is a regime which to us and in relation to our church is in the same class if not worse than the colonial oppressors.

We easily classify it as evil if it is a regime that perpetuates the oppression of our Church. Evil in the sense of someone or something that is fighting God’s people.

We call upon our government to revisit its conduct with regards our church practices. We invite the leadership of our land to realise that we know they are pretending as if they do not know that they are oppressing our religion.

Otherwise to us they will get down in history as the most vicious coward oppressors of Jowani Masowe and a glaring model  of the great Betrayal!

We remain resolute and united in the knowledge that we are an oppressed people in our land. We tremble with anger in our caged abodes of religious banishment. We also remain steadfast that as long as there is no redress, there is no progress.

They should realize that this government is going nowhere until they realize where this country came from! Once upon a time even the stupid will realize to respect God and God’s people.
