The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) board, management and staff has sent condolences to the bereaved family of former television news presenter Alyce Chavunduka.

Chavunduka was the first black television news presenter in the country and also went on to host her own talk show on SAfm radio.
SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago says Chavunduka contributed a lot for women in broadcasting.
“We have sent out our dear condolences, because we think that as a pioneer in that field, she has contributed a lot in making sure that women are on television today. She went and became the first presenter on TV1 so many years ago, and that has helped the women that are on television today, to then have courage to continue where she left, and for us we are saying to the family we have lost a great person.”
Chavanduka died on Sunday, after suffering an epileptic seizure at her home a week before her death. SABC
