Axed Bosso trainer turns to trucking

By Sikhumbuzo Moyo

FORMER Highlanders goalkeepers’ trainer Tembo Chokri Chuma could soon be a heavy-duty truck driver after the Mbada Diamonds Cup winners officially confirmed that they will not renew his contract and that of assistant coach Bekithemba Ndlovu.

Chuma joined the black and white army last season from Masvingo United and led the club’s goalkeepers, Ariel Sibanda and Munyaradzi Diya to the prestigious Castle Lager Soccer Stars of the Year calendar.

“I have a Class Two drivers’ licence. I will be looking for a job as a driver,” said Chuma.

He has since been replaced by club legend, Peter “Captain Oxo” Nkomo while former juniors coach Mark Mathe will be the new substantive assistant coach to Kelvin Kaindu.

An informant last week told Chronicle Sport that Kaindu went ballistic upon hearing that his assistants would not have their contracts renewed and refused to sign a contract extension. He only agreed to an extension after he told the club that he should have a say in the identity of his assistant which is why Mathe was eventually hired. The club had already opened talks with former head coach Mkhuphali Masuku.

Meanwhile, Kaindu did not sign the new contract yesterday as expected after he asked for an explanation on a certain clause on the contract.

Impeccable sources told this publication that the Zambian was yesterday expected in Zimbabwe for the signing but is believed to have made last-minute changes.

“The signing on ceremony would not have happened in Bulawayo as said by some people. Andrew Tapela, the club secretary was expected to drive to Victoria Falls to meet with him as there were some contractual issues to be explained to Kaindu.

“Remember he is attending a Caf A coaching licence course so he would have signed and gone back. There is no need to panic though, uzabekhona next year, that one is a done deal,” said the source close to the club. The Chronicle
