RADIO and television personality Tinopona Katsande, infamous for a bedroom tape which was leaked to H-Metro on Monday, is reported to have been suspended with immediate effect from ZiFM Stereo.
Outgoing chief executive Supa Mandiwanzira could neither confirm nor deny that Katsande had been relieved of her duties at the station.
“Well, I have since resigned as the chief executive of ZiFM. Anyway I think they will issue a statement soon,” he said.
Peggy Mvududu, the station manager could not shed more light on the matter but yesterday Katsande was conspicuously absent on the Breakfast Show which she co-hosts with Tonderai Katsande.
Instead, it was Mark Pozzo, Candice and Tonderai who presented the programme. Katsande who is affectionately known by her listeners as Tin Tin or simply as Joyce to Studio 263 viewing audiences, appears in a five-minute amateur bedroom tape with her ex-boyfriend.
The video went viral on different social media including YouTube, WhatsApp and Facebook. YouTube has since pulled off the video due to its explicit content, however, it’s still doing the rounds in the streets of Harare where it is now being sold for just a dollar.
In a futile attempt to water down the issue and perhaps save her face, Katsande pre-empted the story which first appeared in the H-Metro on Monday. She took to her Facebook page and warned her fans that the stolen tape had been leaked to the media.
“To my social media family and friends. It has come to my attention that the tabloid in Zimbabwe is tomorrow publishing some very private and personal content belonging to me and my ex-boyfriend. It is said this material was dropped off at their offices this morning.
“I would like to formally apologise for the embarrassment this situation may cause you. It has not been my intent or purpose to have events that take place in my private life, be used to bring you disrepute.
“Sadly, as it happened, sometime mid of last year my mobile phone with all of its contents was stolen from me,” she said.
