Suluman fires back at Alick Macheso
HARARE – Zimbabwe Dendera musician Suluman Chimbetu has come up with lyrics for a new song that seemingly take a swipe at Alick Macheso’s camp in their alleged attempt to lure back dancer, Francis ‘Slomo’ Dhaka.
Slomo joined Macheso’s act at Mega 1 Sports Bar where Orchestra Mberikwazvo diehards gave him wads of US dollar notes. It’s thought this did not go down well with Sulu’s camp and the new chorus is being linked to the drama.
The chorus goes: “mukoma Shumba haiteyiwe newaya…mukoma Dendera haritengwe newaya(US$100)… mukoma Dembare haitengwe newaya(US$100).”
Suluman’s publicist Joe “local” Nyamungoma however, dispelled the speculation saying the chorus is not aimed at anyone. He said they were referring to the fight against the lions that had wreaked havoc in Kariba.
“Dendera haritengwe newaya because pane vamwe vachingori kikirikikiri kuridzvanya dendera but rakatobhururuka rakutovhaya ringachete pozi ne steadiness yemapapiro kupozarichingerodakumhara asikwete sandiku lander bauku ndokamu flying kedendera at leisure and at work mumhepo.
“Hazvidi shungu izvi zvoda shangu dzeshasha nechido.”
He added:
“Franco was trained somewhere (Orchestra Mberikwazo) but today he is employed by an International Dendera Institute which is paying him handsomely.
“In other words how can Franco go back to a school (Orchestra Mberikwazvo) which was giving him grants? Those rivals must know that their student Franco is now working and being paid well at Orchestra Dendera Kings. God bless the college (Orchestra Mberikwazvo) where Franco came from” he said.
