Award winning Zimbabwean rapper Alishias ‘Maskiri’ Musimbe has opened up about his love life in his latest single. The talented rapper claims he has found Miss Right in his latest single entitled Ndakawanikwa, already a huge hit on the internet.
Although he could not be drawn into revealing the name of the ‘lucky woman’ Maskiri said the track was based on a true story.
“Chero mukandiwanzira kana simbi dzikandipinzira ndakugara ndakavharirwa, ndakawanikwa,” sings Maskiri in one line of the lines. The single also features Nox and Chagwa Black. Maskiri confirmed that indeed the song was penned after he found his new love.
“I penned the song about two weeks back after I found new love, ndakawanikwa handina kuwana. This love just came and grabbed me while I was unaware and I am grateful to my love who I cannot say by name at the moment.
“I am also impressed with the progress of the track, since its release after it managed to hit maximum downloads and having to re-upload it as well. I hear its now also on the charts on radio stations which is a good start for the single.
“Fans also love it when I perform the track at my shows which is good feedback. To me that track is going to be big,” he said. Maskiri added that he will be shooting its accompanying video on Valentine’s Day as well as releasing the video of Tsotsi.
It now appears Maskiri has hit a purple patch since he scooped an award at Zim HipHop Awards last year. He also embarked on his maiden tour of the United Kingdom last year where they thrilled Zimbos in the Queendom. H Metro
