Magaisa who was personally head- hunted by the Premier, officially joined Charter House on Monday. Friends told SW Radio Africa he would have no trouble taking on his new role as Tsvangirai’s chief-of-staff.

He takes over from Ian Makone who is now in charge of economic and transition issues. According to a source the reshuffle comes as part of Tsvangirai’s strategy to win the forthcoming general election.

The source said Magaisa is going to become Tsvangirai’s top domestic adviser and a central figure in the Premier’s foreign policy plan. Magaisa is known for his political writing skills and is seen as someone deeply loyal to Tsvangirai and a figure skilled at balancing egos and bureaucratic demands.

‘I think in bringing in Magaisa, Tsvangirai is slowly assembling a uniquely suited team that will meet the great political challenges facing the MDC-T today. Magaisa will also be Tsvangirai’s most trusted advisor on the most important issues in areas of domestic and international affairs.

‘His broad experience after years as a law lecturer and his sound judgement will be invaluable to Charter House in addressing the challenges ahead,’ a friend close to Magaisa said. SW Radio Africa
