Defending champions Dynamos thumped fading cup kings CAPS United 3-0 in the Mbada Cup semi-final at Babourfields Stadium in Bulawayo on Sunday. Goals from Denver Mukamba (39′), Simba Sithole (59′) and Roderick Mutuma (90′) ensured DeMbare are on course for a second consecutive league and cup double.
Former Mamelodi Sundowns striker Simba Sithole continued his scoring form once again as he helped Dynamos beat their bitter rivals. They will now head to the final of the tournament where they face Monomotapa on 24 November.
Dynamos are now on the verge of winning a double as they try to defend the Mbada Diamonds Cup which they won last year, as well as the Castle Lager League title – with Dynamos on top of the league table, two points ahead of Highlanders with two games to go.
Talking to Sithole after the game, he praised the team work at the side, saying that their efforts were rewarded with a place in the final.
“I think we did very well in the game today. CAPS played very well but we wanted to go to the finals and we did it,” he said.
“At the moment we are not thinking of the final yet. We are taking one game at a time. It is good we have reached the final and we have league games to think about as well before playing the final.”
Last weekend, Dynamos beat Monomotapa 2-1 in a league game, but a tough encounter is expected between the two sides as they fight for the trophy in the final.
