Pole dancer Bev and her Sexy Angels head to SA

HARARE – After a strong showing of her raunchy dances at most of the Harare’s entertainment joints — Beverly Sibanda is now crossing the mighty Limpopo River to South Africa, to perform this weekend.

Bev and her Sexy Angels group are expected to put Musina on fire this weekend. Her manager Haperz Mapimhidze told the Daily News that Bev has two shows in Mzansi’s Musina this Friday and Saturday.

“The Musina shows will be her first shows outside the country. We used to perform in Beitbridge and for this reason South Africans fell in love with her, that is why they invited her,” said Mapimhidze. Mapimhidze is glad that the most-sought-after dancer is expanding her fan base regionally.

“If she remains so energetic we want to conquer the whole continent, we are starting with South Africa till we reach Egypt’s Cairo.What is interesting is that all the Sexy Angels members have all the proper travelling documents — so nothing will stop us,” he said.

“Bev is a full-time dancer and this is a lesson to other upcoming artistes that if dancing is taken seriously, it will definitely reward,” he said.

Owing to her dancing skills, Bev quickly became the most popular artiste in Zimbabwe’s show biz industry. A number of entertainment joints have existing contracts with Bev. She is usually fully booked each week at various venues across the capital and outside.

“Because of the demand from entertainment joints, now I have no time to rest. I would like to have one show per day but because virtually every club is after me I end up doubling my shows to meet the demand,” the dancer told the Daily News.

Bev, unlike her mentor Zoey Noleen of the Red Angels, performs in virtually every entertainment spot — from downtown to upmarket places. Her growing reputation as a dancer par excellence has taken her to far flung areas such as Beitbridge, Zvishavane and now she is crossing borders.

Bev, a professional dancer, is planning to be a musician in the near future. “In a few years to come I want to be as popular as the American songbird Beyonce Knowles,” she said. She has been making good and bad headlines too. Bev who is not moved by criticism from the public for her type of career recently purchased a vehicle and left tongues wagging.

The proud dancer was previously a target of unsavoury remarks from detractors who labelled her a “stripper” while others have said she is a “stalker” who eyed Suluman Chimbetu and young Peter Moyo.

Born in Harare’s Greencroft suburb, she attended Selbourne Routledge School before enrolling at Zengeza High 2 School and then Charles Clerk School for her Ordinary Levels. “They called me Shakira while I was still at school because of my dancing skills,” she once said. Daily News
