HARARE- In the season-opening cup game he scored once. The following week, in his maiden Champions League game he scored twice. Yesterday, in his first league game for Dynamos, he smashed a superb hat-trick.

There is a new hero at the Glamour Boys and this gunslinger, Takesure Chinyama, is taking no prisoners and building an iconic status among the DeMbare supporters. There have been a number of fairytale starts to life at Dynamos for strikers.
Evans Gwekwerere quickly comes to mind, exploding at Rufaro as an unknown forward six years ago, and running rings around the Shooting Stars defence to score the priceless goal. The Earthquake quickly became the darling of the Glamour Boys’ fans and, five months down the line, he was away to South Africa.
Chinyama is not an unknown quantity like Gwekwerere because he has played football in Europe and also played for the Warriors and was part of the failed campaign for the 2010 Nations Cup finals under Valinhos.
But, every week, he is turning on the style with his goals and yesterday he sunk a memorable hat-trick in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League tie against newcomers Hardbody at Rufaro.
The Gweru-based Premiership greenhorns finished the match with 10-men when striker Calisto Maheya received a straight red card after he had stepped on David Kutyauripo’s head after the Dynamos right-back had gone down from a challenge in the 44th minute. It was Chinyama’s first hat-trick for Dynamos since joining the Harare giants this season.

HIGHLANDERS turned on a five-star performance to outclass Blue Rangers in a lively Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match before an appreciative crowd at Barbourfields yesterday.
The day belonged to hat-trick hero Milton Ncube while rookie Ozias Zibande capped the afternoon with a debut goal too for one of Bosso’s biggest wins in recent years.
The match started on a lively note with Bosso showing clear intentions of winning, and win they did, sending a clear message of that they mean business this year. Their victory left Bosso’s Zambian coach Kelvin Kaindu a happy man.
“We got what we wanted and my boys played according to the brief we gave them. I feel we could have scored many goals judging by the number of chances we created,” said Kaindu. His counterpart, Wishes Shiridzinomwa, blamed lack of fitness on his players for the big loss.

SEAN CONNOR took home a point, in his first dance with the domestic Premiership, but he will certainly feel it all tastes like a defeat given the way his CAPS United failed to convert their dominance into victory.
The Northern Irishman took charge of his first football game on African soil at Maglas yesterday and will feel he should have popped the champagne to celebrate a victory to go with the historic occasion.
But a point is all that Connor got, on a day when CAPS United were the better team, and on reflections he will feel they could have done better with the services of his new recruits, Darryl Nyandoro and Chris Samakwere.
For Connor had planned his season with Nyandoro central to his attacking plans but yesterday he could not use the Zimbabwe international because the forward is yet to receive his reverse International Transfer Certificate from the DRC.
Both Nyandoro and Samakwere played for former African champions, TP Mazembe, before returning home to sign for the Green Machine.
Robbed of his first-choice forward, Connor threw in Washington Pakamisa but then watched from the bench as a wasteful CAPS United failed to make their dominance count by fluffing numerous chances that came their way.
CAPS United even forced six corners in the opening half as they sought a breakthrough that remained elusive all afternoon. At the end of the 90 minutes, Connor was left to rue the missed chances as Makepekepe could only get a point for their spirited show.
