The late former Mayor for Masvingo Engineer Alois Chaimiti was buried on Sunday in Masvingo at the Pioneer Cemetery. Eng. Chaimiti, 63, died at a local clinic in Masvingo last Wednesday after a long battle with diabetes.
The burial was attended by Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai who addressed hundreds of mourners gathered. Tsvangirai was accompanied by senior party officials, MPs and councillors including the national organising secretary Elias Mudzuri and national party spokesperson Nelson Chamisa.
Meanwhile, In Manicaland province, Zanu PF hooligans are fleecing villagers in Makoni Central district by forcing them to pay US$5 each, one chicken or a goat, plus fuel towards the Independence Day.
Reports from Makoni Central are that the thugs have camped at Sherenje Primary School and are visiting each homestead under Chief Muswere Mushonga forcing them to pay for the celebrations.
