MONOMOTAPA striker Kuda Musharu grabbed a hat-trick as the former champions ran riot against the troubled Happy People in a Premiership match at Rufaro yesterday. The victory saw the team easing into the fourth place, displacing Gunners and CAPS United, with 44 points.

And, adding to the Lengthens woes, they are fighting relegation and there is very little motivation for the team, which has been deserted by its directors. Monoz were on target as early as the 9th minute when Musharu scored his first, defender Ocean Mushure added the second goal in the 26th minute while the tall striker increased his tally in the 67th minute and 79th minute.

Monoz substitute Osborne Mukuradare scored the fifth goal deep in injury time to complete a good afternoon for the team. Lengthens had pulled one back in the 16th minute when forgotten striker More Moyo headed home. Coach Jostein Mathuthu said his team was at the crossroads.

“To be honest, I don’t know whether we will survive or not. The players have tried their level best but the directors have deserted the team. “The management is not there for the players and we have just been fighting a lone battle relying on handouts from well-wishers and don’t know how it will end,” said Mathuthu. Monoz could have won with a bigger margin, but Charles Chiutsa missed a number of good chances. Monoz assistant coach Nkululeko Dhlamini praised his charges.

“The team played well, they deserved to win. We will just play to win all our remaining matches,” said Dhlamini.
