Transparency International Zimbabwe and the Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition have called on the Anti-Corruption Commission to investigate Local Government Minister Ignatius Chombo and the source of his spectacular wealth.
“We are baffled by revelations of minister Chombo’s empire which media sources say have neither been inherited nor financed through his salary. The Anti-Corruption Commission Act [Chapter 9:22], section 12 paragraph (f) mandates the Anti Corruption Commission of Zimbabwe to;
“Investigate any conduct of any person whom the Commission has reason to believe is connected with activities involving corruption”.
The groups said ‘It is a disservice to the public, if this issue goes down to the drain without proper investigation. Being a public official, the people have the right know how Minister Chombo built such an empire over the years of his service in government. We Demand Asset Declaration by Public Officials!
