Chamisa awarded best student at UZ

Zimbabwe’s Information Communication Technology Minister and MDC-T spokesman Nelson Chamisa graduated last Friday from the University of Zimbabwe winning a Book Prize in the process.

There was 20 minutes of uninterrupted applause as the charismatic politician made his way to the stage to be capped by President Robert Mugabe for the second time in his academic career.

As Chancellor of the University of Zimbabwe Mugabe gets to cap all the graduates from the institution. A poor human rights record has seen this yearly ritual being attacked by rights activists and some graduates.

The first time Chamisa graduated from the UZ there was speculation he would boycott being capped by a murderous dictator. He eventually chose to be capped but the publicity surrounding it had made the point. Nehanda Radio
