DJ Squila Taken Off Air

Must Try

Trending

Power FM DJ Squila has been suspended from the airwaves pending investigation on allegations he reported for work drunk.

The DJ whose real name is Tafadzwa Sikwila is alleged to have hosted last Friday’s show under the influence of alcohol.

According to Power FM listeners, DJ Squila whose reputation is marred in controversy, used abusive language during a phone-in programme.

The subject of discussion was: “What would you do when you find your loved one in bed with another lover?”

Sivukile Simango, the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation public relations manager, confirmed the incident saying DJ Squila had been removed from the Power FM roaster pending a full investigation of the allegations he is facing.

“He is alleged to have reported for duty under the influence of alcohol and proceeded to abuse our listeners, who we value very much by using inappropriate language while on air.

“This is a very serious allegation as no employer will tolerate that kind of behaviour,” Simango said.

Concerned listeners called the authorities and alerted them of DJ Squila’s misconduct when he was still live on air.

“The station manager (Tinashe Chiname) rushed to the studios where he made an independent assessment of the DJ. He was pulled off the air and replaced by DJ Melman who was scheduled to take over from his shift,” Simango said.

He said DJ Squila would be disciplined according to the station’s code of conduct.

This is the second time that DJ Squila has been suspended for misdemeanor.
Last August, he together with his Breakfast Show co-host Dr Zobha were suspended on allegations of bringing the station into disrepute. The Herald
