Chinoz says ‘Mugabe gift from God’

By Never Kadungure

Maverick war veteran’s leader Joseph Chinotimba has claimed the country’s 85 year old dictator Robert Mugabe is ‘a gift from God.’

In a statement issued this week, Chinotimba the Vice Chairman of the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association threw his weight behind the recent nomination of Mugabe to once again lead the party.

“As war veterans, we are on the record of saying there is no vacancy on the post of the President and First Secretary of the party.

“We are happy that our able and God given leader Cde Robert Mugabe was overwhelmingly nominated by all the provinces and we will support him for ever and ever,” said Chinotimba.

The bootlicking did not stop there. Chinotimba went on to describe Mugabe as a “tried and tested, brave, hardworking and courageous leader.”

Chinoz, as he is nicknamed further ingratiated himself to Joice Mujuru and John Nkomo by backing their nominations as the two Vice Presidents.

“We consider the two as political icons as they have proved to be resolute and dedicated leaders to the development of the party and nation at large,” he said.

“Let’s respect the people’s wishes and put the party first ahead of our personal goals. This is a race and we should bear in mind that we win some and lose some,” he said.

Ironic that Chinotimba could talk about respecting the wishes of the people when last year in March, Zanu PF receiving a hammering from the MDC in elections which they lost but still hung to power via brute force.

Mugabe has in the past vowed only God will remove him from power. Last year after he lost the elections he cited Romans Chapter 13 in the Bible.

“Only God who appointed me will remove me (…) not the MDC, not the British (…) Even Romans 13 says leaders are appointed by God. I am an image of God who appointed me to my current position” he shockingly claimed.
