JOHANNESBURG – Eight hundred metre gold medallist Caster Semenya’s former school headmaster, Eric Modiba from Nthema Secondary in Limpopo, has been forbidden from commenting on his famous ex-pupil.

Modiba said he had been instructed by officials from the local Capricorn municipality, who had been accompanied by Semenya’s mother, not to comment to the media any more.

“I am not feeling okay with this because, initially, I was given a directive from our district official to handle all media queries on behalf of the school and all of a sudden I’m told not to give comment to the media on any issue regarding Semenya,” he said.

“I had been invited to a breakfast organised for Semenya tomorrow,” he added.

A spokesman for the Capricorn district municipality, Jabu Masondo, who visited the Semenya family yesterday, said that the municipality was not in a position to comment or give out any contact details as the family were exhausted by all the media and public attention.

He said that the municipality would organise a media briefing tomorrow and that “all the media” would be invited. The Citizen
