The MDC Youth Assembly chairperson and deputy Youth Minister, Thamsanqa Mahlangu has been remanded in custody to 13 August after the State invoked the draconian Section 121 sub section 3 of the Criminal Procedure and Evidence Act.
Mahlangu is facing charges of stealing a cell phone from self styled war veterans’ leader, Joseph Chinotimba.
Mahlangu and his aide, Malven Chadamoyo who is facing the charges were granted a US$50 bail each by Magistrate Kudakwashwe Njerambini.
However, the State through State prosecutor, Chris Mutangadura, invoked Section 121 sub section 3 of the Criminal Procedure and Evidence Act, which when invoked suspends a bail order from the courts.
