Jusa video set for MTV debut

By Showbiz Correspondent

Zimbabwean dancehall starlet Jusa Dementor is scaling new heights with his latest video African Air Horn Dance set to be added to the MTV play list. Speaking to SW Radio Africa’s On the Pulse with Lance Guma, Jusa said they worked on the video with a ‘serious dedicated team of producers and directors’ and the video was well packaged.

The video was produced by a Zimbabwean director. Jusa set up a website for the video www.airhorndance.com and says this is an attempt to reach out to a worldwide audience. He told the show his latest offering was probably more of cross over music were he is fusing an African style and the urban genre appreciated by most in the western world.

Responding to a question on why a lot of Nigerians in particular knew of his music more than his native Zimbabweans, Jusa says he has studied the urban genre from Nigeria and has ‘replicated’ this in his music. He argues that Nigerians in Africa are world leaders at the moment when it comes to urban music.

Several months ago Jusa was nominated in the Best Dance Hall Artist category for the KORA Awards that were meant to be held in Nigeria. The awards have since been postponed but the nomination all the same emphasized his growing reputation.

Last Sunday Jusa shared the stage with Jamaican dancehall legend Beenie Man at the Nottingham Carnival in the UK. He says he might share the stage again with him at the Derby Carnival on the 19th July. He says the response was great especially considering Caribbean people are normally skeptical of Africans doing ‘their music.’
