The match was abandoned in the 65th minute last Saturday when Dynamos were leading 1-0 after the floodlights at the National Sports Stadium failed to light up.

There was a power shortage at the venue and referee Pedzisai Chadya had no choice but to stop the match as it was a danger to players and fans.

In a statement yesterday, Zifa said the match will be replayed for the entire 90 minutes at Rufaro Stadium with Dynamos’ lead nullified which means the tie will start at 0-0.

“After wide consultations and deliberations, the Zimbabwe Football Association has seen it fit to order a replay of the 2015 Independence Cup Final,” read the statement.

“We have taken into cognisance that the abandonment of the match was a result of force majeure (unforeseen events) therefore none of the participating teams was at fault. This is a new game altogether and it will be played for a full 90 minutes.

“Consequently, the 1-0 position in favour of Dynamos obtained prior to the premature end of the match is hereby nullified.

“In coming up with this position, we have analysed various possible scenarios within the dictates of the laws of the game as well as the tournament rules and regulations.

Gate charges for the replay have been pegged at $2 for a rest of the ground ticket, $5 for the Upper Grand stand while a VIP ticket will cost $10. Daily News
