Bhonzo opened up to a local tabloid claiming he had no other source of income besides royalties that he claims money from state broadcaster ZBC.

“I am grounded at my St Marys’ Chitungwiza home with nowhere to get money. Sometimes I go to ZBC to get money for the commercials I used to do,” he said.

The forgotten star confessed that he had been unwell for some time suffering hypertension and swollen legs.

“I also had heart problems as well as a terrible headache and I nearly died but God saved me. At one point, I was admitted in South Africa for nearly three weeks and my friend was taking care of me.”

On a positive note, Bhonzo said he had fully recovered and was looking forward to a return to the small screen.

“I have fully recovered. My desire is to start doing commercials and I will be glad to be back on the small screen once again. If the opportunity comes, I will jump at it.”
