The Parliamentary Standing Rules and Orders Committee has set next Monday as the day for conducting interviews for people who applied to sit on the Zimbabwe Media Commission (ZMC), the Minister of Constitutional and Parliamentary Affairs, Eric Matinenga has said.
Matinenga said the committee had initially set mid-July as the time within which it would have completed the process of identifying people to sit on various commissions.
Yesterday the committee received an update on the responses of the people who had shown interest in sitting on the Commission.
“We wanted to have this process completed as soon as possible, but that was not possible because of the overwhelming response that we got.
“We have agreed that on Monday, we will select candidates for the ZMC,” said Matinenga.
The ZMC will be replace the Media and Information Commission following the passage of the constitutional amendments in line with the Global Political Agreement (GPA) signed by the main political parties in September last year.
