It’s probably fair to say that 2020 has been a tough year for most of us. It has been filled with worry, uncertainty, deaths and changes to the fundamental routines that we have built for ourselves courtesy of the coronavirus pandemic and accompanying lockdowns.
2020 has seen us say goodbye to some of our favourite celebrities, which is never easy, especially when it comes to personalities who touched us with their innovation, creativity and humanity. Nehanda Radio pays tribute to notable celebrities we had to sadly bid farewell to in 2020.
There are so many Zimbabweans who work in National Health Service (NHS) in the UK and other countries abroad. These heroes are contributing at the frontline in fight against the #coronavirus.
The number of those dying continues to grow and as a community we need to come together and keep each other strong. Below is a roll of honour for those who have tragically passed away so far.

Prominent businessman, broadcaster and former Zanu PF MP, James Makamba, has paid an emotional tribute to his son Zororo who died after contracting the coronavirus last month.

In the best or worst of circumstances, no matter who you are in life, death is never gentle on the soul or body: it never discriminates.
This is how Tawanda Makamba reportedly surmised his young brother Zororo’s final moments:
“At the end before he died, he kept telling us that he was alone and scared and the staff was refusing to help him…So this is how my younger brother ended up dying. I want people to know the government is lying.”
These painful words sound so familiar, as Zimbabwe is a cesspit of relentless, quiet death, government inaction and fatal betrayal.
Tawanda Makamba: “His doctor made it clear earlier on that he had to be on a ventilator because he could not breathe. However, when we got at Wilkins Hospital there was no ventilator, no medication and even the oxygen would run out and they had to get it from the City of Harare.”
