Chivayo, Kazhanje trial date set

The trial date for the long anticipated trial of controversial businessman Wicknel Chivayo, who is being charged with former Zimbabwe Power Company chairman and convict Stanley Kazhanje for bribery, has been set following the dismissal of the review they filed at the High Court.

US$14m funding for Gwanda solar

The 100 megawatt (MW) Gwanda solar project has received fresh impetus after a local infrastructure fund, African Transmission Corporation (ATC) Holdings, agreed to extend US$14 million to finance the first 10MW of the project under a phased construction model.

The Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) yesterday threw businessman and Intratrek managing director Mr Wicknel Chivayo under the bus after they denied playing a role in the controversial award of the 100 megawatt(MW) solar project tender to the firm in 2015.

The criminal prosecution of Intratrek managing director, Mr Wicknel Chivayo, is imminent as the Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC), Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) and police are finalising building evidence against the ex-convict.
