Former Zanu-PF Politburo member Dr Simba Makoni has said that sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by the US were not affecting ordinary people. Makoni also said the current indigenisation laws discriminated against whites.
To claim that the vulnerable and poorest segments of the country’s 11 million people are suffering because of financial and travel sanctions imposed on President Robert Mugabe and his closest supporters is misguided.
Both countries are subject to crushing Western-backed sanctions. Both condemned for their human rights records, and isolated from world politics. Small surprise, then, that Iran and Zimbabwe have a lot in common and recently announced a defense agreement.
HARARE – Kembo Mohadi, the co-home Affairs Minister has been named in a citizenship scam involving a Chinese national and a man claiming to be the minister’s brother. Aneti Mbedzi, a 56-year-old man who allegedly claims to be Mohadi’s brother, has already appeared in court on allegations of defrauding Li Chuanya.
