Sybeth Musengezi, a brave Zanu-PF activist who challenged President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s legitimacy following a coup that installed him in 2017, has been denied access to his passport which was taken by the Clerk of Court as part of his bail conditions.
Sybeth Musengezi, a Zanu-PF member who is challenging the legitimacy of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s coup said he is going to “expose a lot of misdemeanors that happen” in his party during his trial in the case he is being accused of fraud.
Zanu-PF youth member Sybeth Musengezi who is challenging the legitimacy of President Emmerson Mnangagwa has warned his fellow party members against monopolising the organization adding that “Zanu-PF is not an individual property”.
Dr Phillan Zamchiya: “Even if Mnangagwa wins the referendum there is a third exceptional legal albatross to authoritarian consolidation in Zimbabwe. Section 328 (7) of the Zimbabwe constitution clearly stipulates that the person who held the office of the President before the amendment cannot benefit from the extension of term limits. So even if Mnangagwa manages to change the constitution he is still barred by section 328 (7) to extend his rule beyond two terms that is beyond 2028. It is his successor who can legally benefit from that chicanery.”
