President Robert Mugabe has met with South African President Jacob Zuma on the sidelines of the United Nations general assembly in New York late on Tuesday and assured him that the adoption of a new constitution was on track.
HARARE – South Africa’s President Jacob Zuma was last night locked in crucial talks with President Robert Mugabe and other “unity” government leaders, as Sadc gets jittery over a restive military and deadlock on a new constitution.
After weeks of dithering, Zanu PF finally made its position clear that it wants to rewrite the draft constitution produced by Copac last month. Copac is made up of the three parties in the inclusive government who spent over three years negotiating the draft constitution.

Majome, who is also the Deputy Minister of Women’s Affairs answers questions sent in by listeners.
This is the First COPAC Consolidated Constitution Draft submitted to the Management Committee on Monday. A number of issues that have not been finalized which the Management Committee is expected to deal with including citizenship, land, structure of government devolution and number of MPs.
HARARE- President Robert Mugabe is battling to thwart an internal Zanu PF plot playing out within Copac, which also involves the other two parties, MDC-T and MDC-N, designed to deliver a “technical knock-out blow” against him by a joint force drawn from a cross-section of rivals straddling the three main political organisations.
