Mutevedzi judgment on CCC MPs vs Sengezo Tshabangu a scandal

In support of his erratic position, the judge went to town (to use his other phrase in reference to the applicants) about why the party CCC was not in court to support its members.

The Judge used the analogy of a parasite and the host in reference to the MPs as party members and the party, compelling the host to be present to defend its parasites.

Surely the parasites’ rights cannot be ignored by the courts because the host did not come to defend them. The MPs approached the court as aggrieved citizens and therefore expected justice rather than to be informed that they had no locus standi (right to approach the court).

Court challenge against exorbitant nomination fees declared not urgent

High Court Judge Justice Munamato Mutevedzi on Monday ruled that the application filed by opposition politicians and pro-democracy campaigners seeking an urgent determination of a challenge of exorbitant nomination fees for 2023 general elections is not urgent and that the matter should be set down for hearing on a normal and ordinary court roll.

Mupfumira approaches High Court for review

Former Cabinet Minister Prisca Mupfumira has approached the High Court seeking nullification of Chief Magistrate Mr Munamato Mutevedzi’s ruling dismissing her application for separation of her trials with co-accused ex-Public Service Commission permanent secretary Ngoni Masoka, saying the decision was based on evidence and facts that were not placed before the court.

Magistrate orders examination of detainees

Magistrate Munamato Mutevedzi on Tuesday ordered prison authorities to allow private medical practitioners to examine and treat 45 social and human rights activists who were subjected to torture while in police custody and those whose health has been compromised as a result of disruption to the administration of their medication.
