Mutare – The $3 million diamond theft case involving six Mbada Diamonds and a Mutare businessman took a new twist this week with the employees taking steps to sue the Minister of Home Affairs, Kembo Mohadi, and Commissioner-General of Police Augustine Chihuri for $2 million.
Six employees with Mbada Diamonds at Chiadzwa are at the centre of a $3 million diamonds case for allegedly supplying several carats of the precious stones they stole from their employer to an Indian businessman in Mutare in a well-calculated scandal that saw them being paid with vehicles.
PROMINENT Mutare businessmen clashed in the city last Saturday in what insiders said was a feud stemming from extortion allegations in which one of them allegedly demanded that his colleague should pay ‘‘protection fees’’ to a cabinet minister and two service chiefs.
