Emergency Situation: ‘The ground beneath Kwekwe is now weak’

The government is exploring ways of dealing with the issue of Kwekwe town, in the Midlands province, where the ground underneath it has become weak due to illegal mining activities in disused mines, a senior official said on Thursday. In March, one of the classrooms at Globe and Phoenix Primary School caved in, resulting in 18 pupils being injured.

A primary school classroom in Kwekwe collapsed into a mine shaft due to improper underground mining activities allegedly being carried out by powerful politicians. Illegal miners have been digging under  Globe & Phoenix Primary School where there are underground tunnels left behind by the Germans who once worked at the now disused mine.

Police memo exposes Zanu PF hand in murder, assault of Chamisa supporters

A Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) memo has confirmed that Zanu-PF members are part of the 16 people arrested in connection with the assault and subsequent murder that took place when a Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) rally in Kwekwe was violently disrupted on Sunday.

Mboneni Ncube (30), a CCC supporter was murdered at Mbizo 4 shopping Centre while dozens others were badly injured when a mob comprising of Zanu-PF thugs descended on a rally which was being addressed by CCC leader Nelson Chamisa.
