The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) on Friday, 30 June released the full list of all candidates who were successfully nominated for the 23 August 2023 general elections in Zimbabwe.
Harry Peter Wilson: “President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s recent trip to China did not yield major deals as what some people and the media want us to believe. The president met his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping at the 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (Focac) where the two leaders are said to have signed three deals.”
Presidnet Emmerson Mnangagwa should not repeat the same mistake he made when he appointed his last Cabinet after former president Robert Mugabe threw in the towel last year.
A total of 23 candidates will be vying for the top post in Zimbabwe’s harmonised elections due in less than two weeks’ time and of these only two hail from the second largest city, Bulawayo.
With or without the much fought for electoral reforms, the reality is that the 2018 harmonised elections are now on our doorstep and as the opposition, it’s either we sink or swim.
