A potential water disaster is looming in Gweru amid indications that main potable water supplier, Gwenhoro Dam, is now at 18 percent capacity and the Zimbabwe National Water Authority (Zinwa) is on the verge of decommissioning the main water source.
Gweru City Council has urged ratepayers to use water sparingly as its sole source of raw water, Gwenhoro Dam, is running dry and is now left with eight months’ supply of water.
The Environmental Management Agency (EMA) has said Gweru’s potable water from its supply dam, Gwenhoro, is safe for human consumption.
