We woke up Sunday 21st of September to the news that veteran economist, accountant and renowned analyst Dr Eric Bloch had passed on a few minutes after the hour of 1900hrs on Saturday 20th of September 2014.

Since Zimbabwe gained Independence 34 years ago government has endlessly resorted to borrowing money. In the main, the lenders were international including major entities such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank, the African Development Bank, the Chinese government and banks, and many others.
One of the economic ills that continues to prevail in Zimbabwe is illiquidity in the money market. Banks and other financial institutions have insufficient resources to provide funding critically needed by commerce and industry, agriculture, tourism, mining and other economic sectors.
HARARE – Although Zimbabwean savers of all descriptions, from individuals and small businesses to corporations and institutions, have suffered in the ongoing liquidity crunch, the effect is seen most starkly among Harare’s high-spending “floss kings” being arraigned before the courts for fraud.
