HARARE- An Air Zimbabwe flight crew and an advance delegation accompanying President Robert Mugabe to an African Union summit on Friday hurriedly evacuated an aircraft they had boarded after smoke engulfed the plane just before the ageing octogenarian leader boarded it.
HARARE- The Minister of Transport and Communications, Nicholas Goche, has issued a circular to stop Air Zimbabwe management from flying its aircraft to South Africa and the United Kingdom where one of its long haul Boeing 767 aircraft was recently impounded over an outstanding debt.

LONDON- An Air Zimbabwe plane impounded in London for more than two weeks over a debt dispute flew home on Sunday after the national carrier settled $1.2 million owed to a US spares company, the airline’s acting chief executive said.

American General Supplies impounded the Boeing 767-200ER at Gatwick International Airport over a US$1,2 million debt.
HARARE — Zimbabwe’s government has raised $1.5 million (1.2 million euros) to pay off the national airline’s debt and have an impounded airplane released in London, the company chairman said on Thursday.
HARARE- Air Zimbabwe is rushing against time to raise funds to secure the release of a plane that was seized in London before it is auctioned today. Air Zim officials yesterday said they had made “significant” progress in mobilising money to settle the over US$1 million debt.
LONDON- Zimbabwe’s ailing state run airline, Air Zimbabwe’s woes worsened on Monday after one of its planes was impounded in London by a United States company. The plane was seized by American General Supplies upon landing at London’s Gatwick International Airport on Monday morning from Harare International Airport.
