PETERBOROUGH (UK) – A 36 year old Zimbabwean, Victor Matimba, died Sunday evening after the car, he was a passenger in, careered off the road and was hit by a wooden post that smashed through the windscreen.

According to reports the driver of the car, a 39-year-old woman from Leicester, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and has been bailed until May 6.
The other occupants of the vehicle, two girls aged 11 and seven, suffered slight injuries and were taken to Peterborough City Hospital. It is believed the two girls are the daughters of the driver.
Matimba was left with horrific head and body injuries as a result of the accident and was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge. He passed away as a result of his injuries.
According to the Peterborough Today newspaper “The fence post speared the windscreen after the BMW 318 had gone off the road and collided with a fence on the A47 at Thornhaugh close to its junction with Old Oundle Road at 3.20pm on Sunday.
The police are meanwhile appealing for information from anyone who might have seen what happened to call the Roads Policing Unit on 101.
