Popular Zimbabwean musician Baba Harare has appealed to Ethiopian Airlines to urgently trace his missing luggage, saying the bag contains expensive filming equipment and clothing needed for his upcoming album campaign.
In a heartfelt post shared with his more than 1.1 million Facebook followers, the singer said he had relied on Ethiopian Airlines for international travel over the past three years but described his latest experience as deeply disappointing.
According to Baba Harare, he recently travelled to the United Kingdom for a performance and used the trip to purchase new filming equipment aimed at improving the quality of his music videos.
However, he said the excitement quickly turned into frustration after his luggage failed to arrive when he landed in Harare.
The artist said the missing bag contains essential filming gear, clothing and performance outfits required for upcoming video shoots and preparations for his new album, Pedzai Navo, which is scheduled for release on 1 August.
“Every day that my luggage remains missing delays my work and affects my ability to deliver for my fans,” Baba Harare wrote.
He said he had remained loyal to Ethiopian Airlines for the past three years and never expected to face such an ordeal.
“As a loyal customer who has flown with Ethiopian Airlines for the past three years, I never expected to find myself in this position. All I am asking is for Ethiopian Airlines to urgently locate my baggage and do the right thing,” he said.
The musician also appealed to his supporters to help amplify his message by sharing his post in the hope that it would reach the airline.
“To my fans, friends and supporters, I kindly ask you to share this post and help it reach Ethiopian Airlines. Your support means everything to me, and I simply want my equipment returned so I can continue creating the music and visuals you’ve been waiting for,” he wrote.
In a message to his Zimbabwean followers written in Shona, Baba Harare pleaded with supporters to collectively urge the airline to find his luggage.
“Please nehuhwandu hwedu vaudzei vadzose bag redu rava rasa,” he wrote, asking supporters to use their numbers to persuade Ethiopian Airlines to return the missing bag.
Ethiopian Airlines had not publicly responded to Baba Harare’s appeal at the time of publication.
