Munetsi picks Mapeza, Peter Ndlovu, Nengomasha, Billiat and Chigova in his best five

WOLVERHAMPTON – Zimbabwe Warriors vice-captain Marshall Munetsi has named Norman Mapeza, Peter Ndlovu, Tinashe Nengomasha, Khama Billiat and George Chigova in his best all-time Zimbabwean five-a-side team.

Munetsi revealed his picks during an interview at his club, Wolverhampton Wanderers.

“For my five-a-side goalkeeper from Zimbabwe, I have to go with the late George Chigova. I played with him, and because of his presence in the box and his ability to play from the back, I think he’s one of the best for me,” Munetsi said.

“For defenders, this was probably the toughest choice, but since it’s a five-a-side, I’ll pick Norman Mapeza. He played for Galatasaray and was a quality defender—one of the best our country has ever produced.”

Munetsi also explained why he wears the number eight jersey for Zimbabwe, citing his admiration for former captain Tinashe Nengomasha, who also wore number eight during his playing days.

“In midfield, I will choose Tinashe Nengomasha. He’s someone I really looked up to, which is why I wear the number eight jersey for Zimbabwe. He is my inspiration,” Munetsi revealed.

“I will also take Peter Ndlovu, who was the first African player to play in the Premier League. He represented us very well on the international stage.

“Additionally, I would select Knowledge Musona. He has been pivotal for our national team for many years, and his scoring ability is impressive.

“That’s why choosing just five players is difficult—I’d prefer to pick a full eleven. That would be easier,” Munetsi added.

He concluded, “I will also include Khama Billiat. He was Africa’s best player at one point and has represented Zimbabwe for a very long time. So I think adding Khama Billiat is a must.”
