Manchester United overtake Newcastle in race to sign £74m Benjamin Sesko
Premier League giants Manchester United have reportedly reached an agreement with RB Leipzig’s highly rated striker Benjamin Sesko.
Leipzig were willing to accept Newcastle’s offer worth a guaranteed £70m, but Sesko maintained that he wanted a move to Old Trafford.
Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano has now revealed on his social media platforms that Sesko has already agreed personal terms with Manchester United, with the move to Old Trafford now considered imminent.
The Slovenian striker is expected to sign a five-year contract with the Red Devils, running until June 2030.
Sesko, who turned down offers from other clubs including Newcastle United, has made it clear that his priority is joining Manchester United.
Talks between United and Leipzig are ongoing, with the German club reportedly demanding a higher transfer fee to finalise the deal.
The Red Devils have tabled an offer of €75m (£65m) plus €10m (£8,7m) in add-ons, a total of nearly £74m.
Sesko scored 13 times in 33 Bundesliga appearances last season and got a further four goals in the Champions League.
In other news, Liverpool star Darwin Nunez has agreed terms with Al Hilal.
Nunez is said to have reached a verbal agreement with the Saudi Pro League side.
Both clubs have initiated contact and Liverpool have granted Nunez permission to enter negotiations with the Saudi outfit.
If the deal progresses, Nunez could soon join Al Hilal’s training camp in Germany.
While verbal agreements are in place, there are steps that still need to be completed before the move is finalised.
