Athanacia Mlilo, the mother of MDC international relations co-ordinator, Nqobizitha Mlilo was last Wednesday night attacked with an iron bar by Zanu PF thugs in Mvuma.

Mrs Mlilo, 63, was on her way home from Mvuma General Hospital, where she works as a nurse.

According to her she was coming from work around 6 pm when a group of Zanu PF thugs attacked with an iron bar.

She sustained deep cuts on her head.

“I then collapsed and had to be taken to Mvuma Hospital by well-wishers where I was admitted and I had fifteen stitches,” she said.

His son Nqobizitha said the attack was politically-motivated as he had also received threats from known Zanu PF supporters when he visited his mother two weeks ago.

“Only two weeks ago, I organised a soccer tournament in Mvuma but after the tournament I received threats from known Zanu PF supporters,” he said.

A week after Mlilo organised the soccer tournament, Mnangagwa organised his own tournament, which flopped dismally.

The youths who attacked Mrs Mlilo are reportedly linked to Mnangagwa, who is the MP for the area. Mnangagwa, who is Zanu PF’s secretary for Legal affairs, was the mastermind in the vicious campaign against MDC supporters last year.
