Tida naTipa Nursery Rhymes partners gospel choir AC for Season 5
HARARE – Edutainment channel Tida na Tipa has partnered with gospel ensemble Anointing Connecters (AC) for their upcoming season 5 of Shona nursery rhymes.
The new season is set to introduce more cultural lessons, language lessons, and family values for Zimbabweans in the diaspora and those still residing in Zimbabwe.
In a statement released by Tida na Tipa creator Cosmas Chinouya, the gospel ensemble will focus mainly on vocals for their nursery rhymes while he and his team work on animation production.
“AC’s 20+ vocalists provide rich choir harmonies throughout the season, while Tida naTipa Studios leads production using motion capture, animation, and AI-assisted tools—guided by teachers and traditional elders—to keep lessons lively, accurate, and culturally respectful,” read the statement.
Speaking in an interview with Nehanda Radio, Chinouya said he aims to drive Zimbabwean cultural lessons to kids in the country and mostly those in the diaspora as they are at a risk of being brainwashed by ‘woke culture.’
“As you know, there is this so-called ‘woke culture’ and it’s teaching our children values that are not Zimbabwean at all. If you watch other cartoons now, you will realise that they are now promoting homosexuality and that’s clearly not part of our culture.
“Our aim is to reach out to our children in the diaspora so that they don’t lose connection to their real cultural roots,” said Chinouya.
Chinouya also revealed that this new season will be different from previous ones as they will also include Ndebele songs on their catalogue.
“We started doing this in 2020. We have really grown so much. As a way to ensure we get a broader reach, we are also including some Ndebele nursery rhymes. This is because we do not want to leave any child behind.
“We also introduced a word of the day segment which will teach children new words and their meaning,” he added.
Tida na Tipa has produced 135 animated educational videos and nursery rhymes, which are all available on their YouTube channel.
