Showbiz insiders express concerns over Skomota’s sudden “disappearance”
SOUTH AFRICA – Showbiz insiders and even members of his own team have raised concerns over the sudden disappearance of South African entertainer Skomota, who has seemingly gone from viral sensation to obscurity in just a few months.
The 26-year-old from Mafefe, Limpopo, shot to stardom in 2023 after winning R3 million on online betting platform Betway.
His rags-to-riches story made him an instant social media darling, as he transformed from an ordinary villager into a designer-wearing socialite rubbing shoulders with some of Mzansi’s biggest names.
His meteoric rise even birthed a reality show, Skomota Ngwana Sesi, which aired on Mzansi Magic. But in recent months, the hype has fizzled.
Once one of the most booked entertainers in the country, Skomota has disappeared from gig posters, and his social media accounts have gone silent — sparking fears that something tragic may have happened.
According to Daily Sun, members of his inner circle are also worried.
“We’re also concerned. His management doesn’t respond to calls from organisers who want to book him. Other times, the booking fees they charge are unreasonable,” said Moturi Gucci, a close associate.
However, Moturi moved to calm fans’ fears, insisting that Skomota is alive, well, and still open to work.
“There’s nothing wrong with him. People just don’t see him as often because he isn’t being booked like before,” he added.
Meanwhile, Skomota’s manager, Kholofelo “Moruti wa Dikota” Makgata, has reportedly confirmed that the entertainer is fine, though he did not address the growing concerns about the star’s fading presence.
