Jah Prayzah reflects on journey to success: “I once walked from Budiriro to record a song”
HARARE – Popular musician Jah Prayzah has reflected on the challenging road to stardom, highlighting how things were difficult for him before he achieved fame.
Jah Prayzah has become one of the country’s most celebrated artists, acquiring a reputation as one of Zimbabwe’s biggest hit-makers while staying faithful to his musical roots.
Posting a picture on social media showing him in his earlier days before fame, Jah Prayzah highlighted how life had not always been rosy for him.
“I once walked from Budiriro into town to record a song. No one looked at me or even knew who I was because I was completely ignored.
“You were my supporters, you welcomed me and changed my life, and I stood among those who mourned. They did what God did, they made me an example of a rock that came from the dust,” he wrote.
The musician said that in those days, when he had little to his name, some people did not want to see him improve his life.
“I feel sorry for those who wanted me to remain the person you see in that picture. Those who say that if I were to break through this year, the sky has its own destiny for me.
“Fight against the power of God, with the shining rain and the snow and the sun, let’s see if we win. Just saying…” he wrote.
