HARARE – Zimbabwe’s U-17 national team has been drawn in Group A alongside Mozambique, Comoros and Eswatini for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) U-17 qualifiers, set to take place next month in Zimbabwe.
The tournament, whose draw was held on Tuesday, will run from 11 to 20 September.
Matches will be hosted at the Heart Stadium in Harare and Ngoni Stadium in Norton.
The announcement was made by Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) Chief Executive Officer, Yvonne Mapika Manwa, during a pre-tournament briefing held in Harare.
“The proposed venues for this year’s COSAFA U-17 Boys Tournament are Heart Stadium in Harare and Ngoni Stadium in Norton,” she said.
This marks Zimbabwe’s second time in three years hosting a regional youth football tournament.
In 2023, the country successfully hosted the CAF African Schools Football Championship (U-15 category) in Harare.
In that competition, Zimbabwe finished third, with South Africa claiming the championship title.
